The results of the mahadasha depends on the significance of that planet in that horoscope.

It will be wrong to say that Rahu, Ketu and Shani always give bad results. Any planet can give bad or worst result and so one should not only blame rahu, ketu or Shani for that.

In our society there is a wrong negative perception spread about rahu, ketu and Shani / Saturn that they always give worst results.

There are many parameters to understand the bad results of a planet during its mahadasha ruling period.

My explanation is as per KP vedic astrology padhatti / system.

A planet will give bad results when it will signify 6,8 and 12th house ( this is in general and also depends on the events ).

The 12th house signified by a house denoting an event will always give negative results.

The sublord of the planet if not supportive will also give results of bad qualities.

If mahadasha is signifying a bad for an event which is showing good indestiny level then the native will find negative situations but will come out of it thru his intelligence.

If an event is badly destined and mahadasha is signifying good about the event then an environment will be created for the event but will not happen.

If an event is showing bad significance in destiny level as well as in mahadasha level then the impact will be negative for that event.

The significance of the mahadasha has to be understand as per the need of the event and one can not always tell that the signification of 6,8 and 12th house always give bad results.

For example, 6th house also signifies service, job, defeat of his opponent etc.

The 8th house also signifies unexpected wealth, inherit property, unearned money etc.

The 12th house also signifies foreign land, purchase power, MNCs etc.

I used the word ALSO as there are many more significances of that house not mentioned.

So one need to completely understand about the event and the timing and accordingly can make judgement about its favorability or unfavourability of it.

The whole understanding of vedic astrology is very complex as at some point of time when we consider a significance is worst or bad for an event is very good for some other event.

So judging the strength of a planet is difficult and it should always be judged as per the event.

So moral of the story is one can not directly tell which planet among rahu ketu or Shani is the worst planet as other planet can equally create HAVOC in one’s life then be it Jupiter or moon or any other planets.
