What we read in books for every rashi / zodiac are the general qualities of that rashi. It need not be same for everyone as it will differ from person to person depending upon the placements of the planets in the horoscope of that person.

In astrology cancer are the most sentimental and soft kind of person in GENERAL but in real life one will find good surgeon, teacher, policeman, politician, thief, priest, murderer, goons etc etc.

The strength of the houses ( for example, if the 3rd house which shows courage in horoscope, is severely afflicted by malefic planets then that person will be coward in-spite of having aries sign rashi / zodiac )

The mahadasha period also give its impact on the rashi / zodiac. ( good peiod the person will be happy and in bad period he will be sad )

So MORAL OF THE STORY IS there are many VARIABLES in astrology which has to be taken into considerations before making any conclusions about a rashi / zodiac as it will always differ from person to person as per their horoscope.
