My views are as per KP vedic astrology and so in studying a horoscope of a sports player one need to do very common study of the 5th cuspal sublord as it denotes sports. The 3rd cuspal sublord denotes the hobbies of a person.

After the basic study then one need to study the 1st cuspal sublord to understand the physic of the native as one need to be physically fit to be a sports man.

The 3rd cuspal sublord also denotes courage, so one need to study that also as in sports we fight against each other to win. Mars is the planet which need to be strong in the horoscope as it’s the karka / significator planet of courage.

The 5th cuspal sublord also denotes intelligence so one need to study from that point of view also as different sports need different IQs. For example in the game of Chess one need to have good IQs. So one also need to study mercury as it’s the karka / significator of quick intelligence.
